Squiddle-Tee-Dee
So what does "Squiddle" mean?. Well, squiddle-te-dee is one of those nonsensical phrases that I use when I dont know what to say or when I forget the lyrics to a song. I guess it kind of fits in with a photoblog because it's about letting the photos do all the talking. I'm a photographer from New Zealand but now live in London. Like most Kiwis who grow up in the most remote nation on earth, I like to get out and about and see the world as much as possible. This photoblog is a collection of photos from my travels, as well as photos around London
Lately I have been looking at a lot of photoblogs, and have found them to be a great source of inspiration, not to menation a fair bit intimidation! I call my photoblog 'photos of the REAL world' because I dont use Photoshop to manipulate my images. Sure I use things such as the clone/stamp tool to clear dust marks, and I apply filters such as grayscale or sepia tone but that's as far as it goes. You'll never see anything that requires layers or masks or anything that fundamentally changes the content of my photos.
I've seen hundreds of incredible images that have had hours of post processing. They're beautiful but to me they've moved past photography and in to art. My focus is on trying to improve my photographic technique. If the shot is not there, I dont take it. The world we live in is amazing enough without the need to create a new one. The best I can hope to do is to try and capture it, flaws and all.
Please feel free to leave comments, both good and bad. If you like my photos, please vote for my photoblog here Kieron
